Picture Hanging Hack!

I love hanging artwork and picture frames, but when I see that the artwork/frame has TWO hanging holes, rather than just one, I can't lie, sometimes I don't want to buy it! But I realized that I can't let that keep me from enjoying something beautiful in my home!
My husband is meticulous in hanging these things perfectly, with the pencil, measuring tape, and laser level! His tried and true method always works beautifully, but I don't have the patience for that!

I had seen a few tips from Pinterest, but they didn't seem like the best methods:
Putting toothpaste on the nail hangers, then pushing them onto the wall, seemed a bit messy, and not exactly a no fail method!

There was also the suggestion of making a photocopy of the back of what you want to hang, so that you can use that to guide your nail holes. Well, not everything I want to hang will fit on a copier, so that ruled that one out.

Then, I saw several different pins saying that you could use tape to help you keep track of the hanger holes! Yes! That's it!

So I grabbed those pieces I had been putting off hanging for quite awhile, and got to work!

I started by placing a strip of painter's tape across the back of my piece, and marked the hanger holes.

I peeled the tape off, and then placed it on my wall with my best efforts of keeping it straight.
I then used a laser level aligned with the dots on the tape to make sure the tape was straight. It wasn't perfectly straight at first, so I did some adjusting, and re-checked.
I grabbed my two nails and just pressed them over the dots so that I would be able to see the indention after I peeled up the tape. Once I peeled the tape off, I hammered in each nail, and carefully hung it. It's always so fun trying to get it to hang onto those nails!
Then, step back and enjoy! Hopefully a lot faster than you could have if you used all those fancy tools and measuring!

I had to take this photo from an angle due to the shadow I was creating, but I can assure you it is straight, and earned my husband's approval! I'm sure he was relieved that he didn't have to do the work, and I was glad I didn't have to ask him! So next time you are needing something hung, try out this little trick!

Try a little something new, try a little something different...

That tune from Winnie the Pooh is something my Mom would sing at the dinner table very often when I was a child, who am I kidding, occasionally I still hear her sing it when I am reluctant to branch out! One of the many things I've learned from her is the importance of trying anything at least once, well almost anything. ;)

For the most part the refrain was usually heard when it involved food-yes, I will admit that I am a picky eater, and I am married to an even pickier one. This makes cooking, and even eating out somewhat difficult at times. As often as I can I am trying to branch out and- "Try a little something new," and I am encouraging my husband to do the same (baby steps).

I'm also trying to apply that advice to other areas of my life, by trying and doing new things I thought I never would. So on this blog you will find the results of all my trials-new recipes, new DIY projects, new adventures along the way. The first new adventure being this very blog, so here goes nothin'.........
